High levels of methamphetamine abuse over the past decade has resulted in high crime rates and a painful social cost in the Mesa County area.  After a concerted effort, including an increased focus on treatment in favor of incarceration, over the past several years, it appears the county is finally seeing some repreave from the detrimental externalities of meth abuse.  This article in the Grand Junction Sentinal by Mike Wiggins, discusses the situation in western Colorado.
