Hundreds Get Help Through the 9News/Rocky Mountain PBS Phone Bank

CBHC would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all of the wonderful volunteers that helped make the November 8th 9News/Rocky Mountain PBS Mental Health Phone Bank such a success!  Thanks to these volunteers, 274 callers from around the state were able to get valuable, immediate mental health support and information on a variety of other resources to help themselves or a loved one.

CBHC worked with 9News and Rocky Mountain PBS to organize the Phone Bank, which aired during the 9News 4-6:30pm newscast and gave people across the state the opportunity to call in and get help from volunteer mental health professionals from Colorado's Community Mental Health Centers.  A wide range of calls came in to the Phone Bank, but more than anything else, people called in simply looking to talk and to have someone there to listen.  As our volunteers know, we had some callers in very desperate need of support.  It has been truly powerful for us to reflect on what this opportunity may have meant to those who reached out for help.

The Phone Bank also featured interviews with Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter and CBHC Executive Director George DelGrosso.  Their sentiments reflected the theme of the night, which was to encourage people to think about their mental health as a crucial component of their overall health.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and keep an eye out for future events!
